Savannah SCORE Offers Opportunity to Win Over $10K in Cash and Services to Launch New Businesses
(SAVANNAH, GA) Got an idea for a unique, exciting new product or service? Then consider becoming a “BizPitch Savannah™ 2020” entrepreneurial competition contestant. A kinder, gentler version of TV’s “Shark Tank”, “BizPitch Savannah™” offers aspiring local entrepreneurs a chance to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and win over $10,000 in cash and free professional services to help launch their new businesses.
Michael Siegel, Savannah SCORE Chapter Chair said, “We are so pleased to be presenting “BizPitch Savannah™” again this year. This is a really exciting and fun event that promotes entrepreneurism and the importance of small business in our community and gives our contestants a chance to realize their dream of owning their own business. “
Online applications will be available at http://bizpitchsavannah.com starting Friday, September 18. To be eligible to compete, the business must be a new start up or, if an existing business, a Savannah-Chatham County business license much have been obtained after May 1, 2019. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and agree to locate their business within Savannah/Chatham County. Applications will be accepted through midnight, Friday, October 2. A $25 non-refundable application fee is payable at the time the application is submitted.
Eight finalists will be announced on Wednesday, October 14 and invited to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges at the “BizPitch Savannah™ 2020” event on Friday, November 6 at The Creative Coast, 2 E. Bryan Street, Savannah. Three winners will be selected to receive the $10,000 in cash and free services.
2019 “BizPitch Savannah™” winners, Maria Vaughan and Michael Wedum, Co-Founders of COR Compost, said, “We were so thrilled to have such an opportunity to not only participate in an amazing competition, but to also receive the wonderful resources given to us to help us jump-start our journey into creating a successful business.”

Intuit QuickBooks Online Plus | (Self-Paced, 12 month access, 100 hours) In this course, you will learn how to use QuickBooks Online Plus by completing two monthly accounting cycles. In the first lessons, accounting for selling service items will becovered. In later lessons, both service items and inventory items that are sold will be covered. Preparing payroll and creating a new company will also be included. Prior to taking this course, you should be familiar with the accounting cycle and how it is related to a business. While no prior knowledge of QuickBooks Online is required, it will be beneficial to have an understanding of accounting principles.
