Bistro Savoir Educatif Master Class & Wine Dinner series to raise funds for culinary exchange

SAVANNAH – Chef Jean Vendeville will host a series of Bistro Savoir Educatif master class demonstrations & wine dinners this fall to raise funds for Savannah Technical College’s Baking & Pastry Arts students, who will study at the Academy of Toulouse in France.
Each month features a different theme and instruction with the same excellence STC Culinary instructors bring to one of the top U.S. culinary institutes. Cost for each master class is $125. A season pass is available for the four-class Fall 2017 series for $450 ($50 savings). Seating is limited. The master class runs 6-9PM in the Eckburg Auditorium (5717 White Bluff Road, Savannah, 31405 – parking in the back lot of the Savannah campus). - October 12 – Join us for Bistro Savoir Interactif for a culinary adventure featuring chef-led hands-on cooking stations with wine pairings in partnership with the Savannah Food and Wine Festival
- November 15: Contemporary Thanksgiving Feast
- December 6: Sweet and Savory Pastry with Chef Zebulon Berry and Chef Jean Vendeville
Proceeds from the master class series will benefit the Boiardi Culinary Exchange Scholarship to fund lodging/travel for an educational exchange for elite STC Culinary/Baking Pastry Arts students.
Vendeville is STC’s Culinary Arts Department Chair and the American Culinary Federation 2014 Chef Educator of the Year. In addition to his culinary arts and baking/pastry arts expertise, he is also a certified specialist of wine and a member of the Society of Wine Educators. He has studied wine the past four years and holds level 2 and 3 with the Napa Valley Wine Academy. He’s working on being a master of Wine of France with the French Wine Scholar Guild.
Students selected for Fall 2017 Culinary Exchange
Brittany Callahan, Maria Cusimano, Quartez Jerida, Destiny Kelly, and Nicki Mueller have been selected to study at the Academy of Toulouse in France this fall. These culinary exchange finalists were selected based on grade point average, exceptional classroom performance, and personal interviews. This group is now taking weekly French classes with STC Culinary Arts Department Head Chef Jean Vendeville. The educational partnership includes student and faculty exchanges to enhance Baking and Pastry Arts training including hosting students and faculty, immersion training, mentor companies, educational research tutors and evaluation.
