Savannah Technical College selects Gerbino as Chief of Police

SAVANNAH – Savannah Technical College has selected Mark Gerbino as its Chief of Police. Gerbino will direct planning, development, scheduling and implementation of the STC police department. He will also coordinate operational plans and developments with local and other law enforcement agencies. Prior to this position Gerbino was Chief of Police for the Americus (Georgia) Police Department.
Gerbino has nearly four decades of experience as a law enforcement professional, including more than 33 years as a law enforcement manager. He is a Georgia POST certified police officer and a Georgia certified police chief.
He has worked as a law enforcement and public safety and security consultant for domestic and international clients. He has worked in tandem with other organizations as a bomb squad commander and certified bomb technician and certified domestic preparedness trainer. He has also taught criminal justice as an adjunct collect instructor for college and high school (dual enrollment) students.
Gerbino has an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from Monroe Community College, a Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice from Keuka College and has completed graduate work in law enforcement leadership/behavioral sciences at the University of Southern California.
STC’s police department provides public safety, security and parking services for all of the College’s campus locations in Savannah, Rincon and Hinesville, Ga.
