Professional Continuing Education program will improve building energy efficiency
SAVANNAH – Savannah Technical College’s Professional Continuing Education will offer a new course, “Building Operator Level 1 Certification” (BOC®) from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., beginning December 19 at the STC Crossroads Campus (190 Crossroads Parkway, Savannah, 31407) and will meet every third week through April 2014.
The BOC® program is a nationally recognized training and certification program for building operators, facility managers and energy partners. It is designed to provide the knowledge and training necessary to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. BOC® operators apply concepts learned in training and implement measures such as large energy conservation projects and indoor air quality improvements. Studies have shown that organizations achieve an average of more than $10,000 in annual savings, when building operators implement the procedures that are taught in the program.
The eight-session course will include energy efficient operation of building HVAC systems, measuring and benchmarking energy performance, efficient lighting fundamentals, HVAC controls fundamentals, indoor environmental quality, common opportunities for low-cost operational improvement and high performance heating, cooling equipment and energy savings through energy recovery.
The course provides training, along with learning guides that enable participants to earn the BOC® Level 1 credential. The cost of the course is $1,499, which includes the textbook, materials and the initial certification exam fee. For registration instructions, contact Savannah Tech’s Professional Continuing Education department at continuinged@savannahtech.edu or 912.443.3012 by December 9, 2013.
