Computer Support Specialist

The Computer Support Specialist program is a sequence of courses designed to provide students with an understanding of the concepts, principles, and techniques required in computer information processing.  Program graduates are qualified for employment as computer support specialist.

The course content of the Computer Support Specialist Associate of Applied Science Degree program provides the student with the foundation for the CompTIA A+ and Network+ certification exams as well as the Core level Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification exams in Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.

A general program that focuses on computers, computing problems and solutions, and the design of computer systems and user interfaces from a scientific perspective.  Includes instruction in the principles of computational science, and computing theory; computer hardware design, computer development and programming; and applications to a variety of end-use situations.

Graduates are to be competent in the general areas of humanities or fine arts, social or behavioral sciences, and natural sciences or mathematics, as well as in the technical areas of computer terminology and concepts, program design and development, and computer networking.
