Thigpen selected as Dental Hygiene Program Administrator

Savannah Technical College has selected Kay Thigpen as its program administrator for Dental Hygiene. She will provide instruction, clinical supervision and administrative leadership for the program. She has worked as a Dental Hygiene instructor (both full-time and part-time) since 2016 for Savannah Technical College. She has more than 20 years as a registered dental hygienist in private practice, in both general dentistry and a specialty practice in periodontics.

Chef Mashama Bailey to be honored at 18th annual Opportunity Gala

Mashama Bailey, award-winning chef and co-founder of Grey Spaces, will be honored at the 18th annual Opportunity Award Gala, Friday, April 14, 2023. The event, hosted by the Savannah Technical College Foundation, honors deserving leaders in the local community for a lifetime of service in creating and enhancing opportunities for others to succeed.

Battle selected as STC Adult Education 2023 Teacher of the Year

Savannah Technical College has selected Marjorie Battle as Outstanding Teacher of the Year for STC’s Adult Education program. Battle has been an adjunct math instructor for the College since 2017. In FY2022, Battle had 70% measurable skills gains with her students at Fort Stewart’s Army Education Center in Hinesville, Ga., setting the standard for these results in the program and throughout the state.

Renshaw selected as Military Outreach Coordinator

Savannah Technical College has selected Stephen Renshaw as its military outreach coordinator. He will coordinate a variety of initiatives enabling current and former military personnel, as well as their family members, to enroll in the college, graduate, and engage in careers with local industries and businesses. He retired as a colonel in the U.S. Army after 24 years of active duty experience.

Grant selected as Executive Director for Advancement/Communications

Savannah Technical College has selected Robert Grant as its Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and Communications. He is responsible for administration, development and initiatives for both advancement and communications including internal and external development programs. He will manage development priorities through the Savannah Technical College Foundation and work closely with donors to enhance College initiatives and workforce development opportunities.

Erwin selected as 2023 Instructor of the Year

Savannah Technical College’s Marketing and Hospitality Management Department Head George Erwin has been selected as STC’s 2023 Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year. He has been a marketing instructor at Savannah Tech since 2006 and has taught hospitality courses since 2019.
