Message From the Chief of Police
The Savannah Technical College Police Department is committed to providing a safe and secure environment where our students can learn, grow and prepare for successful careers. Safety is our top priority, but it is also a shared responsibility among our students, faculty, staff and Police Department.
Our department is a Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST) certified law enforcement agency committed to community-oriented policing and strong partnerships across the College. We encourage everyone to practice basic safety measures and promptly report illegal activity or suspicious circumstances to Campus Police.
We also encourage students, faculty and staff to review the College’s Annual Security Report, which provides important information about crime statistics, safety policies, procedures, programs and resources. Campus Parking
Students are not required to register their vehicles to park on campus. Student vehicles may park in unrestricted areas but may not park in spaces designated by signage, cones or barricades, or on grass.
Campus Roadways
Savannah Tech welcomes students, employees and visitors to campus. Campus roadways are intended for access to and from College facilities and are not open to through traffic. Drivers using campus roads as a through route may be subject to enforcement action.
Crime Log
The Savannah Technical College Police Department maintains a Daily Crime Log as part of its commitment to campus safety. The log is available for public inspection at the Police Department during normal business hours.
Safety Escorts
Campus Police provides safety escorts for students, employees and visitors who would like an officer to accompany them to or from a vehicle, classroom or office after normal business hours.
To request an escort, call 912.443.5200. Advance notice is appreciated whenever possible.
Weapons on Campus
Georgia law permits lawful weapons carriers to carry concealed handguns in certain areas of public college and technical college campuses without a weapons carry license. However, state law establishes specific locations and circumstances where weapons remain prohibited.
Individuals who choose to carry a weapon are responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable laws and campus restrictions.
