The Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has renewed Savannah Technical College’s grant ($139,706.66) for the fourth year (FY24) to operate the Coastal Georgia Center for Driver Safety.

The American Welding Society (AWS) Atlanta Section representing the state of Georgia selected Savannah Technical College Welding & Joining Department Head Jonathan Hinnant for the Howard E. Adkins Georgia Section Educator Award in 2024. He was honored in recognition of his quality of instruction and devotion to the growth of knowledge and skills of his students in the field of welding.

Savannah Technical College won five gold awards and one silver award with the 39th Annual Educational Advertising Awards for work completed in 2023. This competition is described as the largest educational advertising award competition in the country.

Savannah Technical College has selected Dr. Terry Brasier as its vice president of Student Affairs. He has more than 25 years of leadership experience with student services for higher education institutions.  

Savannah Technical College was recognized for excellence at the Georgia 2024 SkillsUSA Post-secondary State Conference. Students won medals in 13 competitions: nine gold, five silver, and two bronze.

Savannah Tech’s Center for Traditional Craft will offer a stained-glass weekend workshops featuring copper foil and lead came in Spring 2024. Cost for each two-day workshop is $175 per person.

Savannah Technical College has selected Vickie Nylander, MSN, RN-BC, PCCN, as its Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Program Director. She is responsible for developing and maintaining the curriculum for the ASN based on guidelines obtained from the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and the Georgia Board of Nursing (GBON).

The Georgia Board of Nursing (GBON) granted developmental approval for the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program at Savannah Technical College. Developmental approval grants the College the permission to begin the development of an ASN program. Pending initial approval by GBON and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the first cohort of 24 students will begin in January 2025.

Savannah Technical College has been selected by Amazon as an education partner for its Career Choice program, allowing Amazon’s hourly employees pre-paid tuition to one of the College’s 150+ academic programs.

Savannah Technical College has selected Gayle Tremble, Ed.D., as its vice president of Academic Affairs. She has more than two decades of experience in higher education for technical colleges as a vice president of academic affairs, dean, and instructor. Most recently, she was the vice president of academic affairs for Williamsburg Technical College in South Carolina. She returns to Savannah Tech where she was formerly the dean of public services.
