Student Activities, Clubs, and Organizations
Get involved to build leadership, service, and professional skills. Student organizations offer opportunities for connection, hands-on learning, networking, and competition at the local, state, and national levels. Participation is open to all students regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, sex, disability, or age.
Student Government Association (SGA)
The Student Government Association (SGA) represents students and works to enhance campus life by supporting school events, fostering student–faculty collaboration, and coordinating student activities. Representatives from each program area serve on the SGA.
The SGA Executive Board oversees student activity fee expenditures, organization budgets, fundraising policies, bylaws, and meeting schedules. The Coordinator of Student Activities serves as the SGA advisor.

Purpose: The Accounting Club helps students build practical skills, explore career opportunities, and develop professional connections through activities that support academic and career success.

Purpose: To bring like minded automotive students together with the intent to further their knowledge and involvement with the automotive industry. They would also take a more active role with student activities including hosting car care clinics for students and faculty. The overall idea of this club is to build a strong cohesion between the students that can carryover into the automotive world.

Purpose: To promote professional development and introduce students to all aspects of the cosmetology / barbering fields. Members are provided opportunities to attend educational seminars as well as participate in social events.

Purpose: Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) prepares students for careers in business by developing leadership, communication, and professional skills. Members engage in competitive events, networking opportunities, and service activities that support academic growth and career readiness.

Purpose: STC’s Gaming Club, also known as Next Level Legends, brings students together through competitive and recreational gaming while promoting teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. The club provides opportunities for organized play, tournaments, and community building in a fun and inclusive environment.

Purpose: The HVAC/R Club supports students in building technical skills, reinforcing classroom learning, and preparing for careers in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Purpose: The National Technical Honor Society currently serves approximately 100,000 active members and nearly a million members since its inception in 1984. Awarding more than $2 million in scholarships to date, NTHS honors the achievements of top CTE students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive, skilled workforce. For 30+ years, NTHS has helped schools recognize students for their achievement in career and technical education. Members receive a membership certificate, an official NTHS diploma seal, graduation tassel, lapel pin, and window decal to show their affiliation with NTHS. At Savannah Technical College, members must have a 3.5 GPA, completed 12 credit hours, an instructor nomination and pay an initial membership fee.

Purpose: The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students. Phi Theta Kappa provides opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.

Purpose: To foster and develop a social network for student veterans and their families with the college. Work with other military veterans organizations to overall enhance benefits and services provided to the student veterans and their families. Provide a network and an atmosphere of fellowship and camaraderie for students with military service and future military service.

Purpose: The Student Government Association (SGA) represents the student body, promotes student engagement, and serves as a link between students and college leadership. It supports campus activities, encourages leadership development, and advocates for student interests to enhance the overall student experience.

GOAL Purpose: The Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) program seeks to give recognition annually to the State’s outstanding post-secondary technical students and to stimulate public interest in the importance of technical education. All associate degree and diploma program students who have completed one or more quarters at the time of nomination and have an overall, cumulative, technical college GPA of 3.0 or higher are eligible to compete in the GOAL Program. Additionally, students must be in good academic standing with the college and have a work ethics grade of at least a “2” to qualify for nomination. The College winner must be enrolled in the same program during the college nomination, the college-level selection process, and the state-level activities.

EAGLE Purpose: The EAGLE Leadership Institute recognizes and honors those students who have demonstrated superior achievement in adult education classes. EAGLE is the first statewide program in the nation that recognizes and rewards excellence among students enrolled in adult education programs. This student recognition program is designed to create greater awareness of educational opportunities available in local communities across the state and to foster greater involvement in lifelong learning pursuits.

Purpose: SkillsUSA is an applied method for preparing America’s high performance workers in public careers and technical programs. It provides quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. It builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes and communications skills. It emphasizes total quality at work: high ethical standards, superior work skills, lifelong education, and pride in the dignity of work. SkillsUSA also promotes understanding of the free enterprise system and encourages development of patriotism through the practice of democracy. It was formerly known as Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA). Any Savannah Technical College student may participate in SkillsUSA.

These organizations provide opportunities for leadership development, community involvement, and career preparation through hands-on experiences, events, and networking.
Student Organizations
Student organizations are formed to encourage on-campus student participation and engagement. Students have opportunities to network with others in their program areas as well as with faculty and staff advisors. Participation in student organizations helps to develop students’ leadership skills, promotes social interactions, and encourages students to become involved in community and civic activities. Students interested in joining should consult with their advisor to obtain more information.
Savannah Technical College supports the formation of new student organizations when there is demonstrated student or faculty interest. Organizations may be dissolved if interest or purpose no longer exists.
To charter a new organization, students must submit a written proposal to the Vice President for Student Affairs that includes:
- Organization name and purpose
- Student leadership and membership information
- Advisor agreement (faculty or staff)
- Proposed bylaws, meeting schedule, and affiliations
Charter applications are reviewed by the Student Activities Coordinator and approved by the Vice President for Student Affairs and the College President. Approved organizations may use college facilities and are eligible for student activity funding in accordance with College and TCSG policies.
Recognized student organizations may:
- Increase visibility and membership
- Conduct approved fundraising activities
- Advertise on campus
- Reserve campus space and equipment
- Access school vehicles for approved travel
All student organizations must have a faculty or staff advisor and must comply with College policies, TCSG regulations, and applicable laws. Fundraising activities require prior approval and are limited per semester. Financial records and annual budgets must be submitted as required to remain eligible for funding.
The Student Activities Coordinator and the Vice President for Student Affairs oversee student organizations to ensure compliance and alignment with the College’s mission.
Savannah Technical College values student involvement as part of the educational experience. Students may participate in campus life and institutional decision-making through student organizations, the Student Government Association (SGA), committees, surveys, and focus groups. Student feedback helps guide campus programs, services, and activities.
National Organizations & Honors
National Technical Honor Society (NTHS)
The National Technical Honor Society recognizes excellence in career and technical education. Students who demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership, and professional character may be nominated for membership.
Eligibility requirements include:
- Minimum GPA of 3.5
- Completion of at least 12 credit hours
- Instructor nomination
NTHS provides:
- National recognition for academic achievement
- Scholarship opportunities
- Career advancement support
- Leadership development
Inducted students become part of a national network of high-achieving technical students and professionals.
Skills USA
Skills USA is a nationally recognized organization that prepares students for careers in technical, skilled, and service occupations. Through competitions, leadership training, and industry partnerships, students develop the skills needed to succeed in the workforce.
Savannah Tech students:
