Savannah Tech started offering light-duty diesel engine training in Fall 2022. This new technical certificate of credit (TCC) is available as short-term training in the Automotive Technology program, which is offered at the College’s Savannah and Hinesville campuses.

Chef Mashama Bailey to present keynote at Tribute to Community STARs 2022

Mashama Bailey, award-winning chef and co-founder of The Grey, will be the keynote speaker at the 16th annual Tribute to Community STARs hosted by the Savannah Technical College Foundation Community Council on Friday, October 28, 2022.  The STARs (Savannah Tech Achievement Recognition awards) event has recognized 300 people for their service and dedication in the community or at work. It will be held at 11 a.m., in the Eckburg Auditorium on the College’s Savannah Campus (5717 White Bluff Road).

Practical Nursing student receives 2022 CCIA scholarship

Cuyler Community Improvement Association, Inc. (CCIA) presented Savannah Tech Practical Nursing Student Candice Medlock with the Ursuline B. Law Medical Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship will be used for practical nursing program costs for Medlock.

Community Service Team won gold in U.S. for Lion’s Club Savannah fundraiser

Savannah Technical College Business Management students Hunter Matthews, Crystal Sapp, and Donna Lowe won gold for the SkillsUSA national Community Service team competition in 2022. The team developed and managed a plan that raised $20,000 for Lion’s Club of Savannah after its annual tree lot fundraiser was canceled.

Retired military graduate placed #2 in the U.S. for Barbering competition

Barbering graduate Keith Longoria walked across the stage at Savannah Technical College’s commencement ceremony wearing the silver and gold medals he earned with SkillsUSA competitions. He won silver in the national SkillsUSA competition a few weeks ago. He was earned gold at the Georgia SkillsUSA Post-Secondary competition this spring.

Peace Officer Academy graduates complete program with 100% employment in July 2022

Seven Savannah Technical College Peace Officer Academy cadets graduated from the program with full-time employment in July 2022. The five men and two women have completed coursework containing the entire Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) Basic Law Enforcement Training Course. Their successful completion of the program qualifies them to be state-certified peace officers.

Foundation celebrates record-breaking year for student scholarships in FY22

Savannah Technical College Foundation more than doubled funding for student support through private scholarships in FY2022. The total amount awarded to students doubled, and the number or students assisted with scholarships more than tripled in the past year.

Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier will deliver the Commencement Address at Savannah Technical College’s 2022 graduation, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 12 in the Johnny Mercer Theatre, Savannah Civic Center.

Local Board of Directors Announces 2022-23 Leadership

Savannah Technical College’s local Board of Directors announced changes to board leadership this week. James Williams, who was formerly Vice Chairman, completed his service to the board after nine years. The board voted to approve new leadership for the upcoming fiscal year with Donald Lovette as Chairman and Brandt Herndon as Vice Chairman.
