Practical Nursing Diploma

Savannah Technical College’s Practical Nursing program is designed to prepare students to write the licensure as practical nurses. The program prepares graduates to give competent nursing care. This is done through a selected number of academic and occupational courses providing a variety of techniques and materials necessary to assist the student in acquiring the needed knowledge and skills to give competent care. A variety of clinical experiences is planned so that theory and practice are integrated under the guidance of the clinical instructor. Program graduates receive a practical nursing diploma and have the qualifications of an entry-level practical nurse.
Satisfactory completion of all program courses may entitle a student to participate in the NCLEX-PN examination and licensure process. Employers will require candidates to be a licensed practical nurse (LPN). The cost of each of the examinations and licensure is not part of the cost of the program and must be paid for by the student/graduate.
This program requires either the ACCUPLACER or COMPASS college placement test and High School Diploma or GED. Minimum Required Age of 17.
ACCUPLACER minimum scores:Reading Comprehension 55, Sentence Skills 60, Arithmetic 34
COMPASS minimum scores: Reading 70, Writing 32, Mathematics 26
Note: Students may be required to successfully pass criminal background check and drug screen analysis before placement in clinical settings.
