Program Overview

The Nail Technician program is a sequence of courses that prepares students for careers in the field of Nail Technician. Learning opportunities develop academic and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes specialized training in safety, sanitation, state laws, rules, and regulations, nail diseases and disorders, skin and nail care, and work ethics. The curriculum meets state licensing requirements of the State Board of Cosmetology. Program graduates receive a Nail Technician certificate and are employable as a Nail Technician.

Satisfactory completion of all program courses entitles students to sit for the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers Master Nail Technician Licensure. Practicing nail technicians in the state of Georgia are required to have this license. The exams are not part of the program or cost of the program.

Entrance Requirements

This program requires either the Next Generation ACCUPLACER® or COMPASS college placement test and High School Diploma or GED. Minimum Required Age of 16.

Next Generation ACCUPLACER® minimum scores: Reading 218, Writing 222, Arithmetic 223

COMPASS minimum scores: Reading 70, Writing 32, Mathematics 26
