Program Overview

The Aviation Maintenance Technician-Powerplant program prepares students for employment in the field of aviation maintenance. The program emphasizes a combination of aircraft powerplant maintenance theory and practical application. This program meets the FAA academic requirements for Mechanic-Powerplant certification.

Entrance Requirements

High School Diploma or GED. Minimum age requirement of 16. COMPASS test score minimum: Reading 70, English 32, Mathematics 26.

Effective April 4, 2016, Savannah Technical College will use ACCUPLACER as its primary placement test. For this program, the minimum ACCUPLACER scores are: Reading Comprehension 55, Sentence Skills 60, Arithmetic 34.

Savannah Technical College will continue to honor valid COMPASS test scores for five years from the test date.
