Gainful Employment Rule Rescission on Friday, June 28, 2019, the Department of Education announced they will rescind the Gainful Employment (GE) rule, effective July 1, 2020. Institutions have also been offered the opportunity to cease meeting GE regulations earlier than 2020, provided they follow the Department’s instructions. If you are not aware, the Gainful Employment rule provides a regulatory framework that governs certain metrics for certificate programs. Institutions receiving Title IV funds, such as Pell, must comply with the GE rule.
Effective 8:00 a.m., Monday, August 26, 2019, Savannah Technical College will employ early implementation of the rescission of the Gainful Employment Rule. This will include cessation of all GE disclosure obligations, direct-delivery requirements and reporting requirements. If there are components to Gainful Employment that you believe are beneficial to collect and communicate, please contact Terry G. Brasier, Vice President of Student Affairs at tbrasier@savannahtech.edu or at 912-665-8555.
We want to remain transparent and are accountable to our students and the public.
