Enroll now in Free Fast Track Friday GED®-Prep Classes

Savannah, GA – Savannah Technical College currently has 20 slots available in its Fast Track Friday GED®-Prep class. This class is designed to help students finish the GED® in a fast and convenient timeframe. A student must have passed at least one of their GED® tests to be eligible.

Interested students should come to the Student Enrichment Center at the Savannah campus (5818 White Bluff Road, Savannah, 31405) with a copy of their GED® scores and request the “Fast Track Friday” class option.

“Our students need to earn a GED® for a lot of reasons,” said STC’s Vice President of Adult Education Dr. Brent Stubbs. “We have designed classes to meet student needs. Our instructors are focused on individualized attention for all ages with interactive classes that offer not only GED®-prep, but also study skills and coaching for success after GED® completion.”

The College offers free GED® prep classes in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty Counties with multiple locations in each community. Classes are available online and on Saturdays, as well as during the day and evening. Adult education classes for GED®-prep are currently free for all U.S. citizens. Scholarships for GED® testing are available for those who qualify.

Savannah Tech’s GED®-prep course enrollment is up 27% and GED® completion is up 10% compared with the previous academic year, which is contrary to the statewide decline for both.

GED® students also have the opportunity to participate in Accelerating Opportunity. This program allows students to enroll in a living wage, credit program training while studying for their GED® exams. The following STC credit programs are available through Accelerating Opportunity: Air Conditioning Technician, Welding, Certified Manufacturing Specialist, Certified Warehousing and Distribution Specialist, Commercial Truck Driving, Electrical Construction, Nurse Aide (CAN), PC Repair and Network Technician.

Stubbs recently earned his doctorate of education in higher education administration from Georgia Southern University and was promoted to Vice President for Adult Education. He previously was dean of Adult Education and dean of general studies/learning support at Savannah Technical College and has worked at the College for more than five years.

The College’s Adult Education Program serves those who need to improve their basic literacy and math skills, improve their oral and written English, practice for the GED® test to attain a high school equivalency degree, and prepare for college. Instructors also help students with science and social studies test preparation for GED® testing. STC teaches adult education classes in the morning, afternoon, evening and online.
