STC Faculty Update
Mitchell Inman
, Instructor of Marketing at the STC Liberty Campus will be included in the 2010 Who’s Who in America. Inman has been with the college since 1974 in faculty and administrative positions. He was twice selected as the college’s GOAL Instructor and once as Instructor of the Year.
He holds a master’s and an Ed.S. degree from Georgia State University.
Tom Thompson, Instructor of Accounting, has been selected to serve as the Quality Enhancement Plan Coordinator. In this role, he will oversee implementation of the QEP that was an integral part of the College’s successful SACS-COC reaffirmation of 2007. Thompson was Co-Chair of the QEP Team that developed the Plan. He came to Savannah Tech in 2003 and received the College’s Rick Perkins Award in 2006. Thompson holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Administration degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Accounting degree from Georgia Southern University.
Walter Webel, Department Head and Instructor of EMT/Paramedic Technology, will participate as a guest reader in the Real Men Read program at Haven Elementary School on November 3, reading to a group of first graders.
Webel will bring the college’s training ambulance with him to the school, providing students with a close-up look at an emergency services vehicle.

Department Head and Instructor of English, will be a guest speaker on October 25 in the F
lannery O’Connor Childhood Home Fall 2009 Lecture Series. She will speak on
“
Roots, Rivers, and Rhetoric: The Homegrown Writings of Savannah’s James Alan McPherson
”.
Her talk will address the cultural and place imprints of Georgia upon the fiction of the internationally known author – and Savannah native – who in 1978 became the first African-American to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
