Savannah Technical College
Financial Aid Process
How does it work?
Once the FAFSA results are received and your enrollment confirmed, the Financial Aid Office will determine your eligibility for Federal and State financial aid. The Financial Aid Office will email an Award Notification to your Savannah Technical College email address. The email serves as your official notification that your financial aid award is available and you will be able to log on to your Banner Web account to track and monitor your financial aid.
It is your responsibility to make sure that all documentation is submitted in a timely manner to ensure your financial aid may be processed prior to the start of the semester.
All grant and scholarship awards will be made first. If you are interested in the Federal Direct Stafford Loans, you must complete a Direct Stafford Loan Request form and submit this form to the Financial Aid Office indicating the amount you wish to borrow. The Financial Aid Office will determine the amount for which you may qualify. Please note that the amount for which you are eligible to borrow may be less than the amount you request. The Financial Aid Office will send a revised award notification to your STC email address when the loan has been originated.
*All first-time borrowers will also need to complete the U.S. Department of Education online Entrance Counseling and an Electronic Master Promissory Note (E-MPN).
When the Federal and State aid funds for which you are eligible, are received the funds will be will be applied first toward your current semester tuition and mandatory fees, and if authorized by you, books and supplies purchased in the Campus Shop. If any Federal or State aid funds remain after deducting these charges, you will receive the balance in the form of a refund check approximately 30-days (60-days for all first-time borrowers in the Direct Stafford Loan program) after the semester begins and your enrollment is confirmed.
If your total financial aid funding is not enough to cover these charges, you will be responsible for paying the balance prior to enrollment.
