Dear Prospective Student,
Whether you just graduated from high school or have been out of school for several or even many years, test taking strikes fear into the hearts of even the bravest people. However, the COMPASS placement exam is a necessary step on the road to success in your chosen endeavor. It is a requirement that you must meet, but fear not we have compiled a list of resources to help your test taking experience be a positive one.
Some important things to remember when taking a test:
1. First and foremost, relax, and breathe. It’s not brain surgery, in the words of the Emergency Broadcast System, “This is a test, this is only a test.”
2. Take your time. It’s not a marathon; the first one to the finish line doesn’t necessarily win the race.
3. Read the directions. Understand the directions. Be the directions.
4. It is okay to ask questions if the directions do not make sense.
The following resources require internet access. If you do not have access to the internet at home, use the public library or the library located at the Savannah Campus or the Liberty Campus of Savannah Technical College (picture ID required). There is also a computer lab available in Trailer 4 on the Savannah Campus that is available for your use.
If we can be of any further assistance please let us know and we will do what we can to help you.
Thanks,
CDL Department
