October 5, 2007: Economic Development Division Announces New Staff
Christina Shaiko has joined Early Start CCR&R as the Army Child Care in Your Neighborhood Support Coordinator, supporting child care providers and the military families that they serve. She most recently served as the Medicaid Specialist with St. Joseph's Hospital, assisting patients with receiving government benefits. Previously, she served as a Lead Teacher with the Army's Child and Youth Services. Shaiko has an associate degree in Family and Child Development from New Mexico State University.
SAVANNAH - Four new professionals have joined the college's Economic Development Division. The division is responsible for workforce development, assessment, corporate training, professional continuing education and adult literacy. It also includes Early Start Child Care Resource & Referral, a state-funded grant activity for early childhood care and education.

Tom Hines is the Executive Director of Training Operations, and is responsible for designing, developing and supporting training activities with area business and industry. He is the owner of Hines Consultant, a customized consulting firm specializing in training and development for businesses and higher education. Hines is a certified grants administrator and holds a master's degree in Human Services and a bachelor's degree in Political Science and previously served as Director of Title III at Savannah State University. |

Katrina Chance serves as the Quality Improvement Coordinator for Early Start CCR&R. Katrina most recently served as the assistant director for Little One Child Development Center, a subsidiary of Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Inc. at Memorial Health University. She has a B.S. in Human Development and has been active in the child care industry for more than sixteen years. Chance is an approved trainer through the Bright From The Start Georgia Training Approval System and has previously worked with Early Start as an independent contractor providing quality training for administrators and child care providers. She will assist family and group child care providers to enhance their quality of care and to work toward Home of Quality designation. |

Johnnye W. Rogers has joined Early Start CCR&R as a Parent Counselor. Johnnye most recently retired after 31 years as an educator with the DeKalb County School System in Decatur, GA. as an Instructional Coach with the Office of School Improvement. She has a master's degree in Early Childhood Education and a B.S. in Elementary Education. Rogers will provide referrals to parents searching for childcare and educate them on available choices. She is also responsible for maintaining the Early Start childcare provider database. |
