Transfer Admission
Applicants to Savannah Technical College who were previously enrolled at a post-secondary institution and wish to earn a degree, diploma or technical certificate of credit may seek transfer admission status. Applicants who meet regular admission requirements and are in good standing at their previous institution may be accepted in good standing. Applicants on academic probation/suspension will be considered for possible probationary admission until satisfactory progress has been demonstrated.Credit earned at a regionally accredited college or university will be accepted and course credit may be awarded for military training.

Transfer students must:
- Submit an application for admission to Savannah Technical College and pay the $15.00 non-refundable application fee.
- Submit an official high school transcript (showing graduation date) or a General Educational Development Diploma (GED). A transcript is not required if the student has an associate degree or a four year baccalaureate degree.

Procedure
- Applicants seeking transfer credit must submit official transcript(s) from all post-secondary institutions attended and apply for admission at least thirty (30) days prior to enrolling at Savannah Technical College. An official transcript is one sent directly to Savannah Technical College from any previously attended institution or hand delivered in a sealed envelope with the issuing school's official seal.
- Transfer credit will be only be accepted from a school accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission or one of the six regional accrediting associations as verified by the official transcript from the sending school.
- Transfer credit hours are granted based upon successful completion of the high school Advanced Placement (AP) examination, the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Services (DANTES) exemption test, as well as the American Council of Education (ACE) recommendation for non-traditional military and experiential learning. Official score reports must be on file before credit will be granted.
- Transfer credit hours accepted must be the same as the credit hours awarded from the sending institution.
- A minimum grade of "C" is required in all courses for which students are seeking transfer credit. A minimum grade of "B" is required for Math and Anatomy & Physiology for acceptance into the Nursing and Surgical Technology programs.
- A transfer student must be in good standing at the last institution attended.
- All students receiving educational benefits from the Veterans Administration must submit a transcript(s) from all institutions attended.
- Transfer credit will only be awarded for classes that are equivalent to those requirements in the program of study at Savannah Technical College.
- The Vice President of Student Success or designee will review the official transcript prior to the applicant's enrollment, or at the latest, prior to the end of the first academic term in which the applicant is enrolled. Student and academic advisor will be provided with a copy of the transfer credit evaluation.
- The Vice President of Student Success or designee has the final decision on the acceptance of transfer credit. Transfer credit hours will be granted on a course equivalent basis.
- A maximum of seventy-five percent (75%) of program coursework maybe transferred from another accredited institution.
Transfer Students and Financial Aid
To receive financial aid, a transfer student must ensure that college transcripts from all institutions attended have been received at Savannah Technical College. This also applies to all previously attended institutions regardless of whether Savannah Technical College accepted the transfer credit hours. A HOPE Scholarship eligibility review may be requested after all college transcripts have been received.
Savannah Technical College reserves the right to deny the transfer of credit from any institution regardless of accreditation. Transfer students may be required to take the placement examination if the transcript indicates less than satisfactory performance at the previous institution. The type of admission granted is based on the standing at the previous institution and/or the placement examination.
